Abu Dhabi, 5 April 2024: First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) distributed more than 55,500 meals to families, donated more than 31,500 kms to Emirates Red Crescent, and reached more than 200,000 individuals across the UAE during Ramadan 2024 as part of its largest ever programme of charitable community initiatives for the Holy Month.
More than 7,000 volunteers, including FAB staff and members of the public, contributed over 14,000 hours across four FAB charitable activities.
The bank’s Aftir meals campaign was a significant highlight, with its focus on supporting families in the UAE. With the campaign expanded to locations across all seven emirates for 2024, Aftir volunteers packed and distributed more than 55,500 meals for families across the UAE, in collaboration with established charities. Partner charities included Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation in Abu Dhabi; Beit Al Khair Society in Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah; Aletihad Charity Foundation in Ajman; Sharjah Charity International in Sharjah; and the U.A.Q. Charity Association in Umm Al Quwain. Community leaders and organisations including the UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation, the UAE Team Emirates cycling team and the Al Ain Football Club also participated in the daily meal packing and distribution drive.
The UAE Ministry of Community Development, Emirates Foundation, Emirates Schools Establishment and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities also supported FAB’s Aftir campaign.
Beyond distributing meals, the bank's ‘Cycle for a Cause’ initiative brought together FAB partners and the public, transforming cycling efforts into monetary donations for the Emirates Red Crescent. More than 180 enthusiastic riders over 40 cycling clubs and organisations across the nation collectively covered more than 31,500 kilometers during Ramadan. ‘Cycle for a Cause’ continues until April 10.
Additionally, FAB's ‘Minutes of Giving’ event saw employees come together at the start of Ramadan to pack food boxes, further demonstrating the bank's dedication to community service.
Futoon AlMazrouei, FAB Group Head of Consumer Banking said: "This year's Ramadan campaign has been a remarkable example of unity, generosity, and compassion. We are humbled by the overwhelming support and participation from the community and want to thank all our dedicated volunteers whose time and efforts made these campaigns a resounding success. The generous support from our partners at the national and emirate level show what is possible when the private and public sectors work together for the common good.
“Aftir, Cycle for a Cause, Minutes of Giving and our Eid activities reflect FAB’s core commitment to social responsibility and our vision of building a stronger, more connected community. "
FAB followed Ramadan by continuing its tradition of spreading joy during Eid Al Fitr. In partnership with the Watani Al Emarat Foundation and Emirates General Petroleum (Emarat), the bank is organising a series of activities for orphans including Eidiya gift distribution, shopping excursions, and a special fun day at IMG Worlds of Adventure.
